What happens in this episode

A fifty-dollar quick wash turns into interior, tires, engine bay and dog hair — three hours and forty-seven minutes of work. Quick Shine charges $255 for the same job.

  1. A customer books a quick wash for $50 and Marcus says yes, see you at 10. Easy money.
  2. Twenty minutes in: can you do the inside too, same price?
  3. At 1:15: my husband says the tires look dirty. At 2:30: and the engine bay, should be like 2 minutes. Then: can you get the dog hair out too.
  4. Four requests later the clock reads 3:47. Quick Shine charges $255 for exactly this job.
  5. Damage report: interior $80, tires and wheels $25, the "2 minute" engine bay $60, dog hair $40 — −$205 on one job.
  6. In the rerun the customer picks the add-ons herself on the form, the price updates as she goes, and there are no awkward texts in the driveway. Same four hours, +$205.
